CFIA - 20200323 Update to import conditions for salted and preserved eggs.
On April 1, 2020, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency will be changing the requirements for import of salted and preserved eggs, including "100 year old eggs", from all countries of origin. The Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) will be updated to reflect the changes required to the wording of the zoosanitary export certificate accompanying the shipment, and to indicate that CFIA inspection at import is no longer required.

Canadian importers of these commodities are advised to contact the exporters in the country of origin to advise of the changes and arrange for updated certification. Shipments accompanied by zoosanitary export certificates with the previous wording will be accepted until June 1, 2020.

CFIA - 20200324: Update of measures during COVID-19 for industry regulated by the CFIA.

To ensure that inspectors continue to meet the health and safety requirements stemming from the Public Health Agency of Canada's (PHAC) and Health Canada's guidelines regarding the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, CFIA employees have been asked to conduct a self-assessment of their daily health status for potential symptoms of the virus prior to each shift. They have also been asked to follow COVID-19 protocols put in place by the establishments in which they work, such as the monitoring of temperature upon arrival on or at an establishment.
